The MMTA (Minnesota Music Teacher's Association) Piano Contest is a competitive solo performance event that includes memorizing and performing a piece from a repertoire list and getting scored by a judge. Students with the highest scores in the preliminary round perform in the finals round, and those with the highest scores in the finals round are selected to play in the Honors Concert.
Although there could not be an Honors Concert for the past two years due to COVID-19, a winners celebration video was made in recognition of winning students at each level (Hannah appears at 31:56).
This is Hannah's first year winning the Piano Contest Finals and second year winning the Preliminary Contest. In addition to competing in the MMTA Piano Contests, Hannah has also completed Theory Exam levels 3, 4 and 5 and has performed in the MusicLink Playathon at the Mall of America. She is also very involved in music at school, including being a flutist in Symphonic Winds and singer in Bel Canto choir, musical theatre and District 112's high school Garage Band program.
We are so proud of you Hannah! Listen to Hannah's performance here:
