At the early age of 13, Blake began learning the guitar and upright bass, performing with the school orchestra. In high school, Blake picked up the bass guitar and joined the vocal jazz band. Furthering his musical studies, he attended McNally Smith and earned a Bachelors degree in Bass Performance. While at McNally he studied multiple genres
and extended his knowledge in theory, music composition, finger-style guitar, and piano. In addition to teaching music, Blake has been working for over a decade as a persona care assistant for young adults with disabilities. |
Blake performs throughout the Twin Cities with his band Sonically Speaking, also playing weddings and events for the Blue Water Kings. Since 2011, he has been playing guitar and bass with Oakwood Community Church in Waconia. In recent years, he has been on stage with notable local talents such as Boogie Wonderland, Mikel Wright & the Wrongs, Sarah Morris, Javier Trejo, Jimmy Bayard, The Blue Ribbon Bandits, 2 Mile Final and the Devon Worley Band.
