BIOGRAPHY Matthew Vinge is a classical guitarist from the Twin Cities. His passion is for the classical guitar but he his also proficient in fingerstyle acoustic and electric guitar technique. He is an active member of the Minnesota Guitar Society and the Guitar Foundation of America. He has auditioned for and been accepted into various master classes with industry-leading and prizewinning guitarists including Xue Fei Yang, Marcus Tamayo, Anabel Montesinos and Denis Azabajic. He has attended classical technique workshops by Grammy winning and nominated guitarists Scott Tennant and Berta Rojas. Matthew has also performed in the Normandale Community College Theatre Department as the lead guitarist for their musical productions.
He completed an A.A. degree in Communications from Normandale Community College in 2010. He was accepted into the music program in 2012 where he studied with Wade Oden of the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet. Matthew completed both an A.A. and A.F.A. degree in Music in 2014. After graduating, he continued on to finish his B.A. in Music Performance.
Matthew loves live music and he tries to make it to as many concerts as possible around the Twin Cities area. He is a collector of guitar literature, educational resources, theoretical studies and music journals. He proudly maintains an extensive personal library. Matthew loves all types of music from classical to metal and jazz to hip-hop. His wide variety of influences include Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Victor Wooten, Leo Kottke, The Beatles, John Williams (guitarist), Julian Bream, Domenico Scarlatti, Beethoven, Edvard Grieg, Claude Debussy and Erik Satie.
