Derek Bates is a passionate and dedicated educator with over 12 years of experience as a professional musician. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance and Bachelor of Music Education (BME) in Vocal Music Education, he is a certified K-12 vocal music educator. Currently serving as the Director of Performing Arts at Chapel Hill Academy in Chanhassen, he specializes in vocal instruction, beginner-level piano, acting, and audition preparation.

With a strong commitment to helping students achieve their fullest potential, Derek brings a warm, supportive approach to teaching, guiding each student toward their individual music goals. Whether in the classroom or one-on-one, Derek fosters an environment where creativity, technique, and self-expression can thrive.
